To reach the latest conclusion, the panel analyzed data from three large clinical trials that were published in 2018—all showed that there was a small benefit of taking daily aspirin and an increased risk of developing gastrointestinal and brain bleeding. The panel also looked at data from 14 other randomized controlled trials on regular aspirin use and found that taking a daily aspirin can increase the risk of having major gastrointestinal bleeding by up to 60% and brain bleeding up to 30%.
