UH’s Taze Moore has elite hops, and that’s not just lip service
Taze Moore shows his affection for the rim during UH’s Thursday practice at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena.PITTSBURGH — To commemorate his first trip to the NCAA Tournament, Taze Moore sealed the occasion with a kiss.
“I feel like I’m the best athlete,” Moore politely said, with no hint of bravado or ego in his voice. “That’s just me. I’m going to always tell people I’m the best athletic, jumping-wise guy that you’re going to see. If there is a guy out there and we can go tit for tat, we’ll just have to jump it out.”
Watch as Tramon Mark, in a game against Alcorn State, scrambles for a loose ball and tosses it to Moore, who pulls back his left arm and somehow tips the ball into the basket.“He was made in a science lab,” former UH guard Galen Robinson Jr. said. A message was left recently in the athletic offices at Southaven High School. Within minutes, Wes Pounds called back.
“Any time Taze was doing something, people would take notice and start asking, ‘Who is that kid?’” Pounds said. “He would do these amazing, almost effortless, athletic feats. He could jump out of the gym.”
