UIW’s Lindsey Scott Jr. fuels rout with 7 TD passes in 70-point half

“Everyone had a hand in it,” Kinne said. “We got a really good team, a really talented team. I thought the coordinators did a great job putting our guys in a position to win and make plays, and obviously those guys went out and executed.” “I would think so,” he said. “That’s just my opinion. I know there’s some other good players out there, but what he’s done week in and week out against probably better competition than the other guys, I’m just really happy for him and the way that he’s worked,” Kinne said.Five different receivers caught touchdown passes from Scott, who credited UIW’s coaching staff for his ability to continue posting video game-like numbers.
The Cardinals quickly recovered, forcing a three-and-out on the Huskies’ next drive before scoring on a 19-yard touchdown pass from Scott to Brandon Porter that gave UIW a 7-3 lead midway through the first quarter. Porter hauled in his second touchdown late in the first quarter after he beat his man on a 51-yard go route, but he appeared to suffer an injury during the run, limping the final 10 yards into the end zone.Early in the second quarter, Scott fumbled into the end zone as he reached for the goal line, but running back Marcus Cooper fell on top of it for one of the more unconventional touchdowns of the season as UIW increased its lead to 28-6.
HCU turned the ball over again on the next possession as UIW defensive lineman Chris Whittaker recovered a fumble in the backfield. On the next play, Scott aired out a 39-yard pass to Taylor Grimes, who turned his head around just in time to secure the ball for a touchdown.
