The Netherlands and Denmark announced their intent to provide Ukraine with F-16 fighter aircraft on Sunday.
While United States and Ukrainian officials acknowledged last week that they will not have F-16s on the battlefield this calendar year, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky hailed the Sunday announcement from two of its European allies as “historic.”“It makes me proud that Denmark, together with the Netherlands, will donate F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine’s fight for freedom against Russia and its senseless aggression.
Ukraine's leader described the agreement as “the most important” yet, adding, “The Netherlands became the first country to agree to provide Ukraine with F-16s after training. I am very grateful," according to CNN.
