GAME STORY: Undermanned Hawks stun Denver to snap Nuggets’ four-game winning streak by msinger
Without Trae Young, John Collins or De’Andre Hunter, Atlanta stunned the Nuggets, 117-109, on Friday night to halt Denver’s four-game winning streak in its tracks.
A lethargic first half cost the Nuggets, who fell to 14-8 on the season and will try to rebound Sunday at New Orleans. Jokic fought, but his urgency didn’t arrive until the second half. He ambled to the bench late in the fourth quarter, finishing with 24 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. A transition alley-oop from Bruce Brown to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope cut the margin to 75-74 with just 4:00 left in the third before Denver’s defense reverted back to its bad habits. Atlanta’s Murray exposed the defensive drop, and the Hawks carried a 90-81 lead going into the fourth.
