Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando, and Knott's Berry Farm have extended their closures due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
The theme parks Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Orlando, and Knott's Berry Farm have extended their closures due to the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
"We are extending the closure of Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood through April 19 as we continue to respond to current conditions and make the health and safety of team members and guests our top priority," a park representative said March 24 in a statement. "This includes our theme parks and Universal CityWalk at both destinations. The Universal Orlando Resort hotels have also temporarily suspended operations.
Universal Studios Hollywood and Orlando initially announced they'd be shutting down until March 28. The announcement was made on the heels offrom California Gov. Gavin Newsom and the Department of Public Health to postpone or cancel mass gatherings to slow the spread of COVID-19. Knott's Berry Farm also extended its closures on March 20, and said it was eyeing a reopening in mid-May.
"At Cedar Fair, the safety and well-being of our Guests and Associates are always our top priorities," CEO Richard Zimmerman. "As we continue to follow regional and national health directives related to COVID-19, we want to provide the latest update regarding our park schedule. Currently, Knott’s Berry Farm, Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel, and California Marketplace are temporarily closed. It is our hope to reopen those properties mid-May or as soon thereafter as possible.
