A $M grant to the Institute for Homiletics at University of Dallas seeks to update messaging from the pulpit
“The lay faithful are thoroughly convinced about the need for better preaching in the context of the Mass; they have already been generous in endowing our operations fund,” institute executive director Karla Bellinger said also in a prepared statement. “They hunger for more compelling preaching - for themselves, their children, and their grandchildren.”
The 85-year-old Lilly Endowment supports the causes of community development, education and religion — with special emphasis to projects that benefit young people. The Institute “will serve many aspiring and current preachers working to reach and engage increasingly diverse audiences both within and beyond congregations,” said Christopher L. Coble, Lilly Endowment vice president for religion.
