at the time when a deputy with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office deployed spike strips on Highway 36 near Covington. Video of the incident shows McElveen veering towards the officer who was waiting on the side of the road before hitting him with the passenger side of the muscle car, flinging the officer to the ground.reports that the 24-year-old drove down I-12 and exited Louisiana Highway 1077.
It is understood that McElveen initially fled authorities when a deputy patrolling part of Highway 36 noticed the Challenger had no license plates. Rather than stopping, the 24-year-old decided to make a run for it.are continuing to investigate the incident and video of it has already started to circulate across social media. While it seems the officer who was hit took a solid knock to their legs and torso, he can be seen quickly getting back up to his feet and using his radio.
