—and that saying “Chinese virus” is not “racist at all”—as the White House task force provided updates on its efforts to combat the disease’s spread.
During the lengthy Q&A session, a reporter asked Trump if he believed China was “inflicting” coronavirus on the U.S., after he defended calling the disease “Chinese virus” and said that the term is “not racist at all.” Trump said he didn’t believe China was “inflicting,” coronavirus on the United States but “I think they could’ve given us a lot earlier notice.”
Another reporter said Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar does not use the phrase “China virus,” with Trump responding that “it comes from China,” and “I want to be accurate.
