Riding a nine-game winning streak after beating UTEP 34-31 on Saturday, UTSA moved into the coaches poll for the first time last week. In the AP poll, last week’s No. 20 Ole Miss, No. 21 Cincinnati and No. 23 Coastal Carolina all fell out of the top 25, making room for UTSA to slot in with the third-highest ranking among Group of Five teams, trailing No. 18 Tulane and No. 22 UCF.
During an 11-0 start to the 2021 season, the Roadrunners spent six straight weeks in both polls — the first time cracking the national rankings in the program’s history. UTSA will play for the Conference USA championship against North Texas at 6:30 p.m. Friday in the Alamodome.
