Internet trolls are increasingly calling for Uvalde school police chief Pete Arredondo to be killed for how he appeared to have directed his officers to respond to the mass shooting last week.

Users across blogs and social media channels say Arredondo, who told his school police officers not to enter Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, despite calls for rescue from children and staff trapped inside, ought to be hanged from a tree, shot and left for dead, and stoned.

Peter Arredondo Chief of Police for UCIS is A Coward & Moron. And so are the 19 officers who waited in the hallway while kids were Murdered. We need 19 Ropes and a tall limb on a tree To HANG ALL THE COWARD COPS. We need some dead pigs!!! Pete Arredondo is a coward. He should be shot and left for dead for 1hr. 3 minutes. https://t.co/jwF777cRFe

A New York Times report published Friday found that Arredondo had arrived at the school exactly two minutes after the attack began, but he chose not to go after the gunman, instead choosing to retreat after his officers were grazed with bullets. Arredondo, who did not have a police radio on him and thus had no way of knowing that 911 dispatchers continued to receive calls from children inside for the next hour, instead treated the situation as stable and not an active shooting.
