Coach Todd Woodcroft was let go after a formal complaint was filed in March after he allegedly exchanged the messages “with a UVM student on multiple occasions.”
“The University of Vermont Athletic Department has high expectations for the conduct of our coaches and all involved with our department,” athletic director Jeff Schulman said in a statement Tuesday. “After reviewing the findings of an investigation conducted by UVM’s Office of Affirmative Action and Equal Opportunity that was completed this week, it is clear that Coach Woodcroft failed to meet those expectations.
. “And I guess I do want to just be really clear that there was no allegations or indication of anything beyond inappropriate text messages. The school’s probe began after a staff member inside the athletic department was made aware of Woddcroft’s conduct. Woodcroft inked a five-year contract to coach the Catamounts in 2020.Schulman, who said the conduct only involved the alleged texts, also indicated that it wasn’t “uncommon in a situation like this for there to be one student involved, but also witnesses and other students that are connected.
