Veterans stop passenger armed with box cutter who forced Frontier flight to divert and land
A Frontier Airlines passenger necessitated an emergency landing and was later taken into custody Friday night after he was found with a box cutter, the airline said.
About 45 minutes into the flight, Cumberbatch said flight attendants approached the three of them and asked for assistance with a passenger in the back of the plane. "His feet were up in the aisle seat. So, he just leaned back, relaxing. And I came and I said, 'I'm going to be sitting here right now.' You know, this is my seat. And he said, 'Well, no. That's the young lady's seat.' I said, 'Not anymore,'" Cumberbatch said. "I just stood there. And I think it made him... I don't know if he thought I was an air marshal or somebody. He got up and went to the rear, maybe to the restroom.
"You could see the energy ramping up where uncertainty, the uncertainty of what's going to happen with this young man," Cumberbatch said.
