The practice opened on Dec. 21.
The practice is owned by Harrisburg native, Dr. Michelle Nelson, who has been working in small animal medicine since she was sixteen years old. After practicing as a veterinarian at other clinics since 2010, she decided to open her own clinic.
“Blue Mountain Veterinary Care’s mission is to provide high quality personalized preventative and curative medicine to our patients because we treasure the human-animal bond,” Nelson said in a news release. " We accomplish this by providing a low stress environment for our patients and appropriate education to our clients.”
Blue Mountain Veterinary Care offers wellness and preventative medicine including vaccines, nutrition advice and screening tests, and on-site diagnostics including digital x-rays, urine testing, skin and ear sampling and bloodwork.Blue Mountain Veterinary Care also works with an off-site laboratory that can run more specialized tests when needed.The practice also provides full-service dental care including prophylactic cleaning, dental x-rays and surgical extractions.
Blue Mountain Veterinary Care is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday. Services are by appointment onlyForest Hills Commons is a neighborhood professional center located behind the Sheetz location near the Weis Markets store on Linglestown Road and is also home to Nature & Nurture Discovery School, an early childhood education center.
