.Victoria'sSecret announces plan to bring back a 'new version' of its fashion show, MariaLeaf reports.
The event was scrapped by the company in 2019 after some criticized the brand for not being diverse enough. It followed the announcement that the long-running Angels program would end because they were not"culturally relevant."
"We're going to continue to lean into the marketing spend to invest in the business, both at top-of-funnel and also to support the new version of our fashion show, which is to come later this year," Chief Financial Officer Timothy Johnson said.Following the final airing of the fashion show in 2018, the company continued its rebrand by looking to hire transgender models.
“We believe we’re two years into a five-year journey in the turnaround of our business, and we have a clear road map to be the world’s leading fashion retailer of intimate apparel,” CEO Martin Waters said.The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show debuted in 1995. A date and television network for this year's show has not been announced. The special previously aired on CBS and ABC.
