“What I learned was in the slam dunk contest in 1987 in Seattle, which I lit [with strobes in the catwalk]. It [the setting] took a great picture, but it wasn’t Michael Jordan. I looked at the pictures, and Jordan’s face was always blocked. You didn’t know if he was coming from behind. “So, I’m sitting under the basket. I look over. He pats his knee and goes like that, so that means I have to go to one side so I can see his face. He ran from one end of the court to the other with the famous slam dunk. I was right in the basket with my Hasselblad, and he fell into my lap, which was sort of exciting for me but not for him.
