Prior to the premiere of WandaVision, Scarlet Witch was a secondary character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe - a powerful superhero, but still a one-dimensional character.
The MCU Has Wasted Scarlet Witch Since WandaVision Season 1 The WandaVision ending set up Scarlet Witch to be the villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but when the movie released, it became clear that much of her character development had been ignored. Scarlet Witch had again been relegated to a one-dimensional character, just a ruthless mother who would do anything to get her children back, without offering any reference to why exactly she was so motivated to do so.
