There is still no timeline for when James Wiseman might return to the Warriors.

MINNEAPOLIS — It’s been almost two weeks since James Wiseman was sent down to Santa Cruz to refine nearly every aspect of his game.

It’s a small sample size, but the Warriors have repeatedly stressed they’re looking at Wiseman’s development as a long-term project. Wiseman is trying to keep that perspective, too. Coach Steve Kerr watched the first half of Saturday’s loss to the Stockton Kings. Wiseman finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds for his third double-double with the G League this season, though he committed two costly fouls in crunch time as the Kings pulled off a come-from-behind win over Santa Cruz.

Wiseman was assigned to the G League Nov. 15 after a sluggish start to his third NBA season. It was a necessary move to help Wiseman, who missed all of last season with a knee injury and played in only 50 NBA games since being drafted in 2020. The 21-year-old needed more consistent playing opportunities and reps. But the Warriors, who were struggling to regain their collective footing during a rough start to their title defense, couldn’t afford Wiseman those opportunities.
