Republican Daniel Davis and Democrat Donna Deegan sparred for an hour on Thursday night in Action News Jax’s Jacksonville mayoral debate at the University of North Florida.
On Thursday night, Action News Jax Anchors John Bachman and Tenikka Hughes asked Davis and Deegan questions about crime prevention, downtown development priorities, whether they would commit to not selling publicly owned utility JEA, and Confederate monuments in the city.
“The University of North Florida is proud to host this debate in partnership with Action News Jax,” UNF President Moez Limayem said in a news release ahead of the debate. “This is an important race for our city’s future, and UNF is pleased to provide a forum for mayoral candidates to discuss the issues that matter most to Jacksonville’s voters.”
