BREAKING House Jan. 6 committee unveils criminal referral for former President Trump, cites evidence it says merits prosecution by Justice Dept. Among crimes cited: obstruction of official proceeding; aiding in insurrection; conspiracy to defraud US
, which featured testimony from dozens of witnesses and a series of high-profile hearings that examined the assault and Trump's role in stoking his supporters to storm the building.
First, Raskin said the committee believes the committee has gathered sufficient evidence to make a criminal referral of obstruction for Trump, Eastman and others. "Former President Trump did not engage in a plan to defraud the United States acting alone," Raskin said."He entered into agreements, formal and informal, with several other individuals who assisted with his criminal objectives.
