The winners had been previously announced in October. Here’s a brief rundown of what the winners did to earn their prizes The Nobel Prize in Physics was awarded to Jim Peebles, Michel Mayor and Didier Queloz. Jim Peebles was awarded for his work in cosmology and understanding the structure of the universe.
The prize is related to the research these men have done in determining how cells both sense react to different levels of oxygen. These discoveries have implications for helping treat a wide variety of diseases, including cancer.The Nobel Prize in Chemistry was won by John B. Goodenough, M. Stanley Whittingham and Akira Yoshino. This prize is in recognition of the work these men have been involved with in uncovering the chemistry that underlies lithium-ion batteries.
