A water main break flooded Times Square overnight, turning streets into a river for the early morning commute.

CBS New York's John Dias is live on the scene with the latest updates. As Dias reported, the area was undergoing construction, but it's unclear exactly what caused the water main break. "I was on the C train coming off... All of a sudden, debris started coming down. We thought it was an explosion, but it was water. Everybody started running," John Baldey said."It started to flood the tracks, they had to call the cops.

Seventh Avenue remains closed between 42nd and 39th streets, and 39th Street is closed between Sixth and Eighth avenues. The 1, 2, and 3 trains are suspended in both directions between 14th and 96th streets.

Model simulations find the cause of unusually high temperatures at the bottom of the Bornholm SeaModel simulations find the cause of unusually high temperatures at the bottom of the Bornholm SeaThe water temperature at the bottom of the Bornholm Basin in the central Baltic Sea has risen faster in recent decades than at the surface. Warnemünde researchers have now been able to explain this unusual development with a temporal shift in the exchange of water between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea. This leads—in addition to the rapid temperature increase in the surface water, which can be observed everywhere in the Baltic Sea and is due to global warming—to a temperature increase in the deep water, too. The research results have now been published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters.
