Two water main breaks flooded the streets in the Manayunk section of Philadelphia on Wednesday morning.

The breaks happened in the 100 block of Conarroe Street and along nearby Mansion Street.Guillermo Laiva said he noticed a strange sound around 7:30 a.m.The water got close to some businesses at the bottom of the hill.

The city sent salt trucks out to prevent ice from forming, but with temperatures below freezing that was a tall task. The sidewalk was lifted up in the spot where the water main broke. There was construction nearby, but there was no word on if that work had anything to do with the break or if the cold weather was to blame.
