“We’ve all been traumatized by COVID, the heat and things around the world,” Locker said. “One of the best things to do are non-verbal. The Gleaves visited the San Antonio Botanical Garden early in the morning Thursday to escape the heat.When the pandemic hit, the garden closed March 18 and reopened on May 4. Marketing director Emily Knapp said the garden closed for five weeks out of “an abundance of caution” when the coronavirus began.
