'Significant' snow could be coming this weekend, but it's too soon to say how much, the National Weather Service said.

Central Pennsylvanians could be getting a brief break Wednesday from frigid, below-freezing temperatures before a chance of “significant” snow this weekend, forecasters said. Wednesday and Thursday are expected to peak in the low to mid 40s and could feel “balmy” compared to earlier in the week, theThe below-freezing weather will not be gone for long, unfortunately, according to the NWS.

Highs will take a dip Friday to around 36 degrees, then plummet into the low 20s Saturday, forecasters said. Temperatures will top off around 21 degrees, according to the NWS.Forecasters are calling for a chance of significant snow overnight Sunday into Monday, but the NWS said it’s too soon to tell exactly how much snow — or when — it will fall. Midstate residents should monitor the forecast heading into the weekend.

“It has the potential to be a big storm,” said meteorologist Greg DeVoir. “[But] the specific details everybody wants are not possible.
