Rey will return in Star Wars: New Jedi Order, with the canon version of this story being very different from the one told in Star Wars Legends.
Star Wars: New Jedi Order will bring back Rey as a Jedi Master, and her canon New Jedi Order is likely to be different from the one seen in Legends. The new movie is set 15 years after Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and will focus on Rey training a new generation of Jedi, but there are no other concrete details. However, this isn't the first time the New Jedi Order was established, as the Star Wars Expanded Universe, now branded as Legends, had been doing so for decades.
Luke Didn't Have The Help Of Force Ghosts - Unlike Rey One advantage that Luke didn't have in Legends was the help of Force ghosts, as it was established that they could only appear for a few years after death. This meant that Luke largely had to find his own path, developing new teachings or relying on whatever Jedi texts he could find. Rey, meanwhile, was able to connect with the spirits of all the past Jedi, meaning she'll have plenty of help when necessary.
Luke's New Jedi Order Was Scarred By The Yuuzhan Vong Invasion Despite growing in number, Luke's New Jedi Order faced many challenges in Legends, and the Yuuzhan Vong War was the most devastating. The Yuuzhan Vong were a brutal warrior race who came from beyond the known galaxy, using organic technology and destroying all in their path. Most troubling, however, was that they seemed to exist outside the Force, giving the Jedi a severe disadvantage in combat.
Rey's Jedi Order Could Share A Similar View Of The Force Despite Luke's New Jedi Order rejecting this philosophy, there is evidence to suggest that Rey's Jedi Order could adopt a similar view of the Force. A common theme of the sequel trilogy was balance: "Darkness rises, and light to meet it," in the words of Snoke. Luke also taught Rey of the balance between light and dark, which didn't mean giving into the dark side, but rather acknowledging its existence.
