Despite only starting in one out of 77 total games he appeared in, Worthy made an immediate impact as a member of the 1982–1983 Lakers by averaging nearly 14 points a game. Worthy's field goal percentage during his rookie season was an impressive 57.9% from the floor, marking a career-high in that regard that he later tied during the 1985-86 NBA season.
