Meet the bloodhound who is responsible for fighting some of the world's most infectious diseases

He is known as the “chief virus hunter” within Abbott Laboratories , where Dr. Hackett is in charge of a global team that plays a prominent public-health role whenever an outbreak occurs.
It was Dr. Hackett who developed a critical test for the mosquito-borne Zika virus after that epidemic swept through tropical regions of Latin America and the Caribbean in 2015 and 2016.How did you decide to pursue science as a career?
