The Crew again let at least a point slip out of their hands in Miami. They again had a late meltdown. But they're still alive with four games to go.
The Crew have four regular-season games remaining, and their situation is not optimal. It’s like they’re stuck on an off ramp with a dead battery and they’re trying to remember if their Triple-A membership didn’t expire last month.. Management’s stated goal for this season was to land a home playoff game in their home stadium – which takes a top-four seed, and that’s not going to happen.
Maybe fifth-place Orlando falters and maybe 10th-place Atlanta gets on a heater. But either thing would be an upset. There was a 2-hour, 30-minute weather delay in that game, which is to say the Crew was doomed. They’re 0-3-1 in weather-delayed games this season. In those matches, they’ve been outscored 8-4, and they’ve given up six second-half goals, including five after the 73minute. Maybe the opposing coaches are making better adjustments? Maybe opposing players are of a sterner constitution?
