The R-rated comedy will come home eventually.
Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Emma Seligman's R-rated comedy received a theatrical release first, but when will Bottoms release on streaming? The second feature film from Seligman comes three years after her breakout hit Shiva Baby. Whereas her feature debut only had a small limited release in theaters, the anticipation for Bottoms landed the movie a wide theatrical release courtesy of MGM.
Bottoms' story revolves around Sennott's PJ and Edebiri's Josie, two unpopular high school students who have crushes on cheerleaders. PJ and Josie want to hook up with their cheerleader crushes Isabel and Brittany before graduation, but they don't know how to make that happen. This leads them to create a fight club for the other women at their school and chaos ensues.
Bottoms Will Likely Release On Streaming In November 2023 An official Bottoms streaming release date has not been announced by MGM at the time of this writing. It is expected that the 2023 R-rated comedy will stream on Prime Video once that time comes. Amazon acquired MGM in 2022 for $8.5 billion, which has meant every upcoming MGM movie went to Amazon's streaming service. Bottoms will be no different in that regard when its streaming release comes.
A late 2023 streaming release for Bottoms would give the movie a nearly three-month theatrical run following its August 25, 2023, debut. This would line up with how Amazon and MGM handled Creed 3's streaming release earlier this year. There is a chance that the schedule is shortened due to the likelihood of Bottoms not being nearly as big of a box office hit as the Michael B. Jordan-led boxing franchise.
Bottoms Will Likely Release On Digital In October 2023 Those wanting to watch Bottoms at home without a streaming service subscription and earlier will be able to do so once it releases on Digital. It is expected that the movie will come to the majority of PVOD platforms in October 2023. This would give the movie anywhere between five and nine weeks to play exclusively in theaters.
