For much of the preseason and even into the early parts of the 2021 college football regular season, Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux was consistently touted as the top edge defender in this year’s draft class. In the firstranking we did here at The Draft Network for the 2022 class, the Oregon product was ranked third overall, as well. By the latter half of the season, he had even moved up into that coveted number one overall prospect spot.
Within that debate, the choice seemingly came down to the season-long question of whether Hutchinson or Thibodeaux was the top EDGE prospect in the class. In recent weeks though, Walker has jumped into the mix, as oddsmakers significantly boosted the Georgia product to be the first player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft.outlined in his piece on why Walker could be the first overall pick in this year’s draft. Walker measured in at the NFL Scouting Combine at 6-foot-5, 272 pounds. His arms were 35.
Thibodeaux himself admitted that in his meeting with the Giants, they gave him “a hard time” about his character and attitude. According to Thibodeaux, they specifically asked about how he’d react to not being the star of the team when he arrived, or what would happen if he didn’t have a sack through five games.the question of whether the team tht drafts him will be able to get him to shine if he doesn’t have the mindset to commit.
