Texas cities dominated SmartAsset's rankings of U.S. metros by their growth in home value and stability in home prices in the past 25 years.
"Among many other local attractions, Seaworld San Antonio and Six Flags Fiesta Texas bring plenty of tourists to the area, while large companies like Valero, USAA and iHeartMedia employ thousands," SmartAsset said."The population has steadily grown over the last two decades, though not at the same accelerated rate as housing prices.
Midland ranked No. 2, with a 255.5 percent increase and no historic home value loss. Odessa was No. 7, at 226.49 percent and a 3 percent historic value loss. Other Texas cities in the top 20 were Waco , Fort Worth-Arlington , San Angelo , College Station-Bryan , Sherman-Denison and Abilene . No Texas cities were in the bottom 20. Across the 400 metro areas considered, home prices increased an average of 154.46 percent over the 25-year window, compared with an 80 percent cumulative inflation rate over the same period.
