With this signing under their belt, Morris joins free agent signings Derrick Rose and Tim Frazier as new Pistons.
Now that the Pistons have used their bi-annual exception to sign Morris, they have only the remaining $1.9 million of the mid-level exception , most of which went to Derrick Rose, and veteran minimum exceptions with which to fill out the roster via free agency. Point guard and both forward spots are likely settled, but the Pistons may seek to find some value for Langston Galloway's expiring $7.3 million 2019-20 salary on the trade market. They also need to address the backup center situation, as Maker simply doesn't have the physical bulk to be able to hang with other NBA centers.
Calderon was so bad last season that the Pistons were outscored by 14.6 points per 100 possessions when he was on the floor, and he played 632 minutes. To put that in perspective, the Pistons were outscored by a total of 20 points last season, but they were outscored by 176 points when he was on the floor, thus outscored by more than one quarter of a point every minute he played.
