The White House announced a multi-agency effort Tuesday to boost green energy investments in former coal communities that have struggled to recover amid power plant retirements.

"We're going to be shutting these plants down all across America and having wind and solar power," Biden said late last year.released guidance outlining tax incentives "Today’s funding will support a first-in-the-nation facility that will convert legacy fossil fuel waste into a domestic source of critical minerals needed to strengthen our clean energy supply chains," Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said.
