Jordan Montgomery and Nathan Eovaldi combined for 13 and 2/3 innings of one-run baseball., who scored the fourth-most runs in the AL this season and chased the once-historically-good Rays down to steal the AL East title.Who could start the series’ first three games for both Texas and Baltimore? Neither side has announced even a game one starter yet, but, heck, here’s an educated guess on all three.
Given the way Montgomery pitched in Tuesday’s series opener against Tampa Bay and overall since he joined the club in August, it’s hard to imagine that there’s a better active option. He’s allowed one earned run in his last 34 innings pitched, and against the Rays on Tuesday,. He’s the hottest pitcher on Texas’ roster, one of the hottest arms in baseball, and could face the Orioles Sunday on four day’s rest.
