Why digital darlings Allbirds, ThirdLove And Harry’s like brick-and-mortar retail Under30Summit
“I always said we’d never open a store. No woman wants to bra shop,” ThirdLove cofounder and co-CEO Heidi Zak toldstaff writer Lauren Debter at the Under 30 Summit in Detroit on Monday. “But we had to listen to our customers.”in the first place, and the company has scaled thanks in large part to its online fit tool. But following growing consumer demand for an in-person opportunity to test ThirdLove bras, Zak opened her first brick-and-mortar outlet in New York in July.
Jeff Raider, the cofounder and co-CEO of Harry’s razors, told the Under 30 audience that he had a similar approach to how he viewed brick-and-mortar. He and cofounder Andy Katz-Mayfield started the company after a clunky experience buying razors at CVS . “We need to be where people want to be and try to be exceptional in all those environments,” Raider said, noting that where he might have once described the company as digital-first or omni-channel first, he prefers to think of it as a customer-first approach.Edgewell Personal Care for $1.37 billion.
