As the economy continues to reopen and recover from the coronavirus pandemic, the debate over remote work vs. in-office work continues. But new data shows working from home could be here to stay for a lot of high earners.
Ladders, which analyzes data from 50,000 North American employers each week, found that there are more than 80,000 remote jobs paying at least $100,000. San Francisco is the runner-up, with roughly 69,000 remote six-figure jobs. Rounding out the top five are New York with nearly 65,000, Boston with more than 40,000 and Washington, D.C., with nearly 37,000 six-figure jobs.Historically, cities like San Francisco, New York and D.C. have had the most high-paying jobs available.
Critics argue there are downsides to remote work, though. Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase JPM, -2.28%, said at a Wall Street Journal CEO Council event that working from home “doesn’t work for people who want to hustle, doesn’t work for culture, doesn’t work for idea generation.”
