Why the Rockets' Boban Marjanovic is the NBA's most beloved benchwarmer
As those who know him can attest, every day is a good day for Rockets backup center Boban Marjanovic.Rockets center and celebrity Boban Marjanovic took the floor for his customary pregame warmups, drills that are as routine as any in an NBA life, part of the blur that the season becomes as it drags on from city to city. Marjanovic, however, knew there was nothing tedious, nothing perfunctory for those sharing the court with him.
“When I see the person and he have a smile on the face, they don’t need to say anything,” Marjanovic said. “I feel positive vibes from that person, positive energy. It’s like people sometimes feel about me. Because for me, I want everybody to be happy and satisfied — everybody has a smile on the face.
When he was told, “You know what? You really are a man of the people,” he became determined to share the way he is. “Of course, you cannot match somebody’s skills. You cannot match somebody’s this, but you can try to be the best person yourself.”
