In both Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time books and Amazon’s live-action adaptation, the Forsaken are a group of male and female channelers who served the Dark One centuries ago. Sealed away during the Age of Legends, each member of the Forsaken was given a new lease on life after being set free during the timeframe of the books. The same scenario is now unfolding in the show, with both Lanfear and Ishamael on the loose.
Why The Forsaken Are So Powerful In The Wheel Of Time The Forsaken being considerably more dangerous than the Aes Sedai was acknowledged in The Wheel of Time season 2, episode 6, titled “The Eyes of Pity,” which touched on the reason for the gap between them. As Lan said, the Forsaken had “powers the Aes Sedai have lost.” This prompted Ihvon to remark, “the things they did, no Aes Sedai would ever even consider.
For this reason, channelers that existed during the Age of Legends had access to a much wider range of weaves than the Aes Sedai of the Whiter Tower in The Wheel of Time series. Since the Forsaken lived during that bygone period, most of them likely know these forgotten weaves. Because of that, each Forsaken member would have an advantage in battle against any modern Aes Sedai.
Forgotten Weaves That The Forsaken Know In the lore of the books, there are several “lost” abilities and that the Forsaken likely have on their side. Arguably the most dangerous of them all is balefire, which is a fiery blast that wipes people out of the Pattern. The Aes Sedai banned it long ago, which resulted in only a few, like Moiraine, being aware of how to do it. There’s also flight, Traveling , and a few others that could be problematic for the Aes Sedai.
