Procrastination is not your inability to manage your time, it is a deep-seated coping mechanism for negative emotions. During procrastination, two dominant emotions are at play: intentional avoidance and guilt, because even though we know that making that fourth cup of tea is a bad idea, we do it anyway.
Find a better reward than avoidance. Procrastination is an erroneous reward, so when you get the tiresome work done, gift yourself something else instead. A glass of wine works for me.
