Ohio State started Saturday's game against Purdue without two starters and lost a third -- and some depth -- en route to a 41-7 victory.
The trip back to Columbus triggers a week of evaluation and speculation as to whether the Buckeyes will have Emeka Egbuka, TreVeyon Henderson, Denzel Burke and others for a top-10 showdown with Penn State.
Day had characterized Henderson’s absence against Maryland as a precaution. He even said the third-year running back could have played that day. Early in the week he said he expected Henderson to play. Egbuka did not travel to the game. He was expected to miss the game all week after suffering a still-unspecified lower leg injury against Maryland. If he can play, it also helps the backfield depth, as Xavier Johnson can take more running back reps rather than taking Egbuka’s place in the slot.
