Allyssa Boucher of Williamstown won the girls Varsity 3 individual title at the South Jersey Track Coaches Association Open in Logan Township. One sport’s losses appeared to be another’s gains Saturday, when former soccer players in their first season of cross-country won two of the three races at the South Jersey Cross-Country Open at the Gloucester County DREAM Park in Logan Township.

“The first mile a bunch of us were all together and after two miles I decided to go,” Hadfield said. “After the first mile, I thought it was going to be a really close race and I was a little worried. I know I had to make my move then to get first.” Boucher, a senior who led her team to a second-place finish, said waiting around for Division 3 race – the last of the day – was stressful.

“It was a little cold, and I took the rain most of the race because everyone was ducking behind me. I still pushed through. I was trying to push it because my limbs were getting cold and frozen.” Jonalee Adames of Sterling was second behind Thomas in 19:21.60, while Anna Marino of Cinnaminson was third in 20:02.67.

Finishing behind Boucher in the top 10 in Division 3 were Conway, Roes, Cate Feudtner of Cherry Hill East , Aldridge, Theresa Albertson of Eastern , Sophie Abato of Quakertown of Pennsylvania , Paige Cline of Shawnee , Wisniewski and Grace Wojciechowski of Cherokee .
