House is under contract for three seasons, Tucker for two seasons, and the absolute core of the other four players for four seasons. I had thought for some time that the Rockets would either look to trade Gordon, possibly for a larger wing, or extend his current deal. What they could not do was allow Gordon to hit the open market next summer as an unrestricted free agent in an extremely weak free agent class. In such a scenario, the Rockets could have lost one of their most important contributors for nothing.
