The woman and her husband were in a car that was hit by another vehicle that crossed into oncoming traffic, Bethlehem police said.
The woman’s identity, and cause and manner of death will be released by the Northampton County coroner’s office, township police said. The coroner was not immediately available for comment.
The Bethlehem Township couple were in a white 2018 Chevrolet Trax, police said, with the 89-year-old husband driving and his wife, 84, in the passenger seat. The Trax was traveling eastbound on Freemansburg Avenue when it was hit at about 3:24 p.m. near 13th Street by a white 2016 Subaru Legacy driven by a 20-year-old man from East Allen Township. Police said the Subaru was traveling westbound when it crossed into oncoming traffic and struck the Trax.
A Subaru sedan is towed after a collision shortly before 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2023, at Freemansburg Avenue and 13th Street in Bethlehem Township. The road was closed before reopening about 4:45 p.m.The couple and the Subaru driver were all injured and taken to St. Luke’s Hospital-Anderson Campus in Bethlehem Township for treatment. The woman was pronounced dead on Tuesday.
The crash is under investigation. Any witnesses or anyone who may have surveillance video along Freemansburg Avenue should call township police Sgt. LaPointe at 610-814-6481.
