The third, fourth and fifth lanes of the southbound side of the I-280 were closed for nearly two hours as authorities cleared the scene and conducted an investigation.
A woman was killed and a teenaged boy was severely injured in a wrong-way rash in the Belmont area on Saturday afternoon.
The driver of the BMW was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel, the CHP reported. Her name was not released pending notification of her next of kin, but authorities noted she was in her 40s.
