A woman is suing Disney Parks and Resorts alleging a violent “wedgie” left her with permanent injuries. According to a civil suit filed in Orange County, Florida, last week, the woman suffered “severe” lacerations and “damage to her internal organs” after visiting Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park in Orlando, Florida.
Plaintiff Emma McGuinness says her family was visiting Disney World for a two-week vacation in October 2019 as part of her 30th birthday celebration. On their trip to the water park, McGuinness says in the suit that she and two family members went on the Humunga Kowabunga water slide. Disney describes the slide as a “near-vertical, 5-story drop” that is suitable for guests 4 feet tall and above.
“These 3 side-by-side enclosed body slides make for some high-octane thrills,” the Disney site reads. “You won’t know what’s coming as you zoom 214 feet downhill in the dark and spray your way to a surprise ending!” According to McGuinness, she went “airborne” near the end of the slide and was “slammed downward,” causing her “clothing to be painfully forced between her legs and for water to be violently forced inside her. She experienced immediate and severe pain internally and, as she stood up, blood began rushing from between her legs,” the lawsuit says.
The lawsuit refers to McGuinness’ injuries as a “painful wedgie” that allegedly resulted in “severe and permanent” health issues, the most severe of which was “a full thickness laceration causing Plaintiff’s bowel to protrude through her abdominal wall, and damage to her internal organs.”If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
