Rollie Ellis, 33, of Pleasantville, stabbed Jennifer Rodriguez and her husband inside their apartment on South Iowa Avenue in Atlantic City on April 11, 2018, authorities said.
Rodriguez, 34, ran from the apartment to the police station across the street, where she collapsed in the lobby and was found bleeding from the back of her neck. She later died at a local hospital. Police found a knife in Ellis’ waistband when they arrested her and the husband identified her as the attacker, authorities said.who had also been at the apartment earlier that morning, authorities said.Ellis originally pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in January 2020 and was sentenced to 20 years in prison.by detectives who questioned her after she invoked her right to not speak with them.
The sentence handed down Thursday was part of a plea agreement and Ellis will be required to serve at least 85% of the 13 and 1/2-year sentence, prosecutors said.
