Investigators said the burglars entered through unlocked windows and urged residents to take precautions.
A woman woke up to find a masked intruder standing over her bed, one of two incidents where burglars targeted houses within about an hour early Tuesday in Toms River, according to police.
Officers rushed to a burglary in progress shortly before 7 a.m. at a home on Tall Ship Court, where three intruders came inside through the unlocked window and ransacked the first floor while the homeowners were sleeping upstairs, according to theA woman woke up to find one burglar, wearing a mask and dark clothing, standing over the bed, police said. She apparently startled the trio and they fled the house.
The thieves stole the homeowner’s 2022 BMW M8, authorities said. The residents, who were not home, learned of the crime through a home surveillance system.
