Jung dismissed the first version of Johnson’s complaint, saying it amounted to a “political lawsuit.” However, he gave Johnson’s lawyers the opportunity to redraft the complaint. In a court filing Wednesday night, Johnson’s attorneys said they’ll pass up that opportunity. Johnson said in a statement that she was dropping the case because of Jung’s statements and threats she faced.
Asked why the pay-discrimination aspect of the suit was also being dropped, Zavareei again cited Jung. He is a Trump appointee, but was originally nominated by President Barack Obama.Trump’s legal team painted the decision as complete vindication for the president — and also indicated Trump’s campaign may yet take legal action against Johnson.
