Woman who stole car with 5-month-old twins facing federal charges
, leading to several days of national panic over the fate of the children, has now been charged with federal crimes.
Nalah Jackson, 24, is facing two charges of kidnapping of a minor. Jackson is currently in jail in Indianapolis but will face charges in U.S. District Court after being brought back to Columbus. Each charge Jackson faces carries a maximum sentence of 20 years to life in federal prison should she be convicted.On Dec. 19, Jackson is accused of taking a Honda Accord that Wilhemina Barnett, the mother of 5-month-old boys Kason and Ky'air Thomas, had left running while she went into a Donatos Pizza to pick up food to deliver., Ky'Air was found in the parking lot outside the Dayton International Airport. Kason, Jackson and the Honda were nowhere to be found.
The search for the missing twin intensified given the proximity to Christmas and a bitter cold front moving into the area. On Dec. 22, Indianapolis police received a tip from two women about a woman they believed to be Jackson. Police were able to arrest Jackson, but Kason was not with her, ratcheting up the intensity of the search even more. Hours later, Kason was
